How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing (2022), by KC Davis, LPC
This revolutionary approach to cleaning and organizing helps free you from feeling ashamed or overwhelmed by a messy home.
If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.
In other words, messiness is not a moral failing. A new sense of calm washed over her as she let go of the shame-based messaging that interpreted a pile of dirty laundry as “I can never keep up” and a chaotic kitchen as “I’m a bad mother.” Instead, she looked at unwashed clothes and thought, “I am alive,” and at stacks of dishes and thought, “I cooked my family dinner three nights in a row.”
Building on this foundation of self-compassion, KC devised the powerful practical approach that has exploded in popularity through her TikTok account, @domesticblisters. The secret is to simplify your to-do list and to find creative workarounds that accommodate your limited time and energy. In this book, you’ll learn exactly how to customize your cleaning strategy and rebuild your relationship with your home, including:
-How to see chores as kindnesses to your future self, not as a reflection of your worth
-How to start by setting priorities
-How to stagger tasks so you won’t procrastinate
-How to clean in quick bursts within your existing daily routine
-How to use creative shortcuts to transform a room from messy to functional
With KC’s help, your home will feel like a sanctuary again. It will become a place to rest, even when things aren’t finished. You will move with ease, and peace and calm will edge out guilt, self-criticism, and endless checklists. They have no place here.

Lindsay Braman is a mental health illustrator who developed a version of the Feelings Wheel that includes Sensations.
This vinyl decor is an extra durable and waterproof adaptation of the “feelings wheel” that many therapists and educators use to help people learn to better recognize and name their emotions. This wheel is adapted to include common body-based expressions of emotions. It is designed to stand up to intense fidgeting during therapy sessions and classrooms.
The two inner rings of this wheel are emotions. The outside ring contains descriptions of the actual physical sensations that may accompany that emotion, described in concrete sensory language. (Language is intended to be more accessible for people who are very literal or who are on the ASD spectrum.)
When people have not had practice recognizing and labelling their emotions, asking them to identify complex emotions becomes an intellectual exercise with limited opportunity to promote growth and change. These emotion sensation wheel prompts mind-body awareness, connection, and conversation.
- This hand drawn emotion wheel is a unique shape with organic edges
- Designed and printed in the USA
- Die-cut: Made from thick, durable vinyl material, these visual aids are resistant to scratches, water, and sunlight
- Ideal for personal use, educational settings, and therapy sessions

This vinyl decor is an extra durable and waterproof adaptation of the “feelings wheel” that many therapists and educators use to help people learn to better recognize and name their emotions.
Learning about fight, flight, fawn, and freeze can be helpful, but knowing how these responses manifest in our particular bodies is where the magic really starts.
Like the Emotion Sensation Wheel, the Fight, Flight, & Freeze Embodied Wheel is a tool to prompt conversations and build awareness by showing how each of these responses *tends* to show up through physical sensations.

This acrylic disk is a professional-grade version of the Emotion Sensation Wheel designed for therapy, education, and household use. More than a standard feelings wheel, this unique chart helps people connect emotions with body sensations, making it easier to recognize, name, and understand feelings in real time.
Created by therapist and mental health illustrator Lindsay Braman, LMHCA, this wheel is based on research in somatic experiencing and emotional development. The inner rings show core and complex emotions, while the outer ring describes the physical sensations often linked to those emotions—a design especially helpful for neurodivergent individuals, literal thinkers, and anyone learning emotional regulation skills.
Built for durability, this acrylic wheel is printed in full color on rigid board nearly 1/8" thick (clipboard thickness). It’s durable enough for daily handling in professional environments yet also perfect for display on a wall or shelf. We love this tool for display on an easel- within arms reach for pulling down to use it as a hands-on tool. Therapists, teachers, or parents can hold it, point to it, or pass it around to spark conversations.
- Unique research-based tool: Unlike most feeling wheels, on the Emotion Sensation Wheel, the inner rings show emotion names, while the outer ring lists physical sensations often experienced as part of those emotions.
- Hand-illustrated by a therapist: Created by therapist Lindsay Braman, this tool merges clinical training, research, and accessibility though visual illustration.
- Research-rooted: This somatic emotion wheel was developed based on decades of research in neurobiology exploring how emotions manifest in the body, somatic informed therapy practices, and cross-cultural emotion mapping.
- Durable Construction: This version of the Emotion Sensation Wheel is vibrantly printed on rigid acrylic. The disk is about 140 mil thick (That's roughly 1/8" thick- or slightly thicker than a clipboard) making it durable enough for daily handling in professional therapy offices or school classrooms. 7 Inches diameter.
